Therapy for social anxiety focuses on practical and lasting results for personal challenges related to social interactions and ruminations.
Introduction to Social Anxiety
What is social anxiety?
Social anxiety, often misunderstood and underestimated, is a pervasive psychological condition characterized by an overwhelming fear of social situations.
Those grappling with social anxiety often experience intense worry about being judged, criticized, or embarrassed in social settings.
Everyday interactions that may seem routine to others can provoke debilitating distress and avoidance behaviors in individuals with social anxiety. Even mundane tasks like speaking in public, attending social gatherings, or simply engaging in conversation can trigger a cascade of physical symptoms such as sweating, trembling, rapid heartbeat, and an inability to concentrate.
Left unaddressed, social anxiety can severely impair one’s ability to form meaningful relationships, pursue career opportunities, and enjoy a fulfilling social life.

Evidence Based Treatments - CBT for Social Anxiety
Evidence-based treatments refer to therapeutic approaches and interventions that have been researched and proven effective through scientific studies and clinical trials. In the context of social anxiety, evidence-based treatments typically involve well-established methods like cognitive-behavioral therapy, which targets the cognitive distortions and behavioral patterns associated with the condition and behavioral techniques to develop and enhance social skills, improving confidence and reducing avoidance behaviors. Through systematic exposure, individuals gradually confront and overcome their fears in a controlled and supportive environment.
I see my role as a collaborator and work with my clients to find the best approach suited for them. Flexibility and creativity play an important part of my therapy process.
